An enthusiastic wanderer from Finland, fascinated by new places and experiences as well as connecting with people from all around the world.

I have a master's degree in Economics and Business Administration but I've always been curious about languages and I'm planning to make a career in teaching. I think learning a language is an important way to really get to know a new country, its culture and people. Whenever I'm travelling I prefer staying somewhere for longer to have time to immerse myself in the culture, learn the language and integrate. Apart from Finland I've lived in Germany, Spain and Slovenia so far.

In my past time I like to spend time outdoors. I especially enjoy long walks in nature, hiking, cross-country skiing and snowboarding. I was brought up in a calm and peaceful environment in the Finnish countryside. Therefore, already from a young age, I have learned to appreciate nature and it has become a place where I can fully relax and find inner peace. On top of spending my time outdoors I like to meet people and engage in deep conversations around good food and a glass of wine.

I have worked as a teacher in kindergarten for one summer and as an assistant teacher in a Finnish elementary school.

Furthermore, the past six months I've been living in a few different families in Spain to teach and assist their kids with English. Currently I'm also in the process of finishing the TEFL-certificate to obtain a qualification to teach English.

I have been learning English, Swedish, German, Spanish and Italian and I can relate to the struggle of breaking that barrier and starting to communicate in your target language. During this time I have always felt nervous, uncomfortable and sometimes been ridiculed by native speakers. Speaking a new language usually means being out of your comfort zone most of the time, which makes it incredibly tough.

I wish I had had a tutor who would have supported me in this process and offered a comfortable atmosphere to practice. Hence my goal here is to offer my students a safe space, where making mistakes won't matter.

In the end, you can learn that grammar as long as you like but what truly makes you fluent in a language is your ability to speak it confidently.
