Hey there! I'm Shannon, all the way from Cape Town, South Africa. Despite my country boasting 11 official languages, English is my native tongue.

Although I initially pursued Journalism, I ended up becoming a Content Marketer and Social Media Community Manager after graduating college. I spent two fantastic years at my company before I felt the need to step out of my comfort zone and reignite my zest for life. Equipped with the necessary qualifications and two years' teaching experience, I embarked on an adventure to Vietnam, where I gained further invaluable teaching experience and lived a crazy, wonderful life. After five exciting years in Vietnam, I came back home and dived straight back into the digital marketing scene.

Currently, I work as a copywriter within the manufacturing and supply chain industry.

Fun facts: I love hiking, cold water swimming, watching live music, and figuring out my manual film camera! Currently obsessed with following my passions and learning to love myself...

I have 9 years of teaching experience, and I am TEFL certified. I always aim to design my lessons around my students' needs and interests.

In 2014, I completed a 120-hour in-class TEFL course. Following that, the language centre from which I graduated offered me a job as an EFL teacher. Six months later, I received a promotion to Principal Teacher, and after one year, I advanced to the role of TEFL Facilitator and Teacher Trainer. I held that position for an additional year. During my time there, I also became familiar with IELTS and TOEFL and as a result I've prepped many students for their exams. Moving to Vietnam was a great decision — I had the opportunity to teach a wide range students and gained incredible experience. While abroad I also taught online, and I still do today!

I prioritise creating a positive and engaging learning environment that nurtures curiosity and critical thinking. I aim to make my classes interactive, focusing on student-centered activities and discussions.

I believe in adaptability and flexibility, recognising that each student has unique backgrounds, needs, and learning styles. I always try my best to meet individual preferences while maintaining structure and organisation in the class. I encourage active student participation and always provide opportunities for self-reflection and self-assessment!
