About the tutor
I am a citizen of the USA who has taught English in Africa and in Thailand for more than ten years. I have a Bachelor's degree and a TESOL certificate from the USA.
I teach with the student at the center of the lesson. This means that the student's understanding of the lesson is most important. I succeed as a teacher when the student understands. Furthermore, I am a patient teacher with a clear English accent.
I have 12 years of experience teaching English in Kenya and in Thailand. I also have a bachelor's degree and a TESOL certificate of 200 hours. My method of teaching is very simple. I speak calmly, slowly and clearly about the subject matter, allow the student to respond as best as possible and then praising what is positive and politely and tactfully correcting what is not correct. The goal is to bring the student's understanding and use of English to be what it should.

Conversational English
I taught conversational English in Kenya and Thailand. My method of teaching conversational English is to first concentrate on understanding. The accent is also important, but a basic understand is the foundation for further communication and learning.
English for work
I understand the need for an understanding of English which allows for the individual to use English to such a high level that communication does not interfere with the flow of work. I have taught this as well.
English for beginners
I informally taught Thai children who lived nearby my home.
American English
I am a mature and educated native speaker of English from the USA who is familiar with the formal and the informal (idioms and sayings) forms of English. I also know many of the reasons for the stories / histories of how they came into being. Being able to explain the idioms can provide interesting information for social gatherings.
Intensive English
I have never taught intensive English, but I have some knowledge which I could share with anyone who is interested.
English for traveling
I have much experience in using English while traveling and living abroad (Asia and Africa for 12 years) but no experience teaching this.
ESOL
I taught ESOL to Spanish speakers, to Kenyans and Thais in formal and informal settings.
