About the tutor
I am Vanessa, a English speaking native from South Africa. I enjoy socializing, meeting new people, watching movies and tv shows with my family. I am a friendly, vibrant, patient and driven person. I like to cook and in my free time. I'm a lover of life and all things to do with food, travel and adventure. I can speak clear and fluent English that is easy to understand.
My teaching style is primarily centered on engagement. I adapt my teaching style in order to cater for everyone and make the material as interesting as possible.
I like to use colorful PowerPoint slides and even videos where possible to demonstrate my learning points. I believe this is something which increases student interest significantly, and from my experience, leads to a better learning experience overall. I am highly effective at behavioral management. Finally, I have an approachable, inclusive style of teaching that is sufficiently flexible enough to cater for a diverse range of learning styles, needs and requirements.
I am a positive person who has an enthusiastic outlook on life. I love my job as a community tutor and I get a great sense of achievement from seeing my students develop and grow as individuals.
If I can have a positive impact on their future, I feel I am doing my job well. I am an effective communicator, both in writing and verbally and I have a strong ability to plan and organize effectively; something which is crucial to the role of a competent teacher. Do you want to practice speaking and listening in an informal, conversational way? This is the class for you. You don't need to do any preparation, just come along and let's talk!
Maybe you don't get much chance to talk English at work or at home, but you'd like to keep it 'fresh'. Perhaps you want to practice English after work in the evening, but don't want to worry about detailed grammar lessons, text or homework.
I'm happy to provide topics for conversation. If you prefer, you can suggest a topic before the lesson, or we can just talk about your day-to-day life.

These classes are designed to help you with your conversation skills and build your confidence when speaking English. In each class, I will introduce you to new vocabulary, phrases, and expressions. We can also focus on grammar, discussing different grammatical tenses and frameworks in various contexts.

English for kids
A lesson for beginning to intermediate level students ages 4-10 using images, games, and activities to teach vocabulary. Students will also be given homework activities to complete at home, and a list of vocabulary to practice after each lesson.
Ages 4-5 - focus on vocabulary and conversation.
Ages 6-7 - focus on simple grammar and reading skills.
Ages 8-10 - focus on grammar, pronunciation, and reading/writing.
For Overall Kid's English Classes (Building English from a Young Age!) - We will go through an online Storybook (no buying required). Kids will have to read, listen, answer about the text, with games for some levels!
(NOTE* I recommend that kids take 30 or 45 minutes classes more frequently)
