I've taught literature and creative writing courses in the US and abroad at universities, high schools, and groups of adults. Now, I mainly work with adults who would like to study and discuss literature and poetry or explore creative writing. In lessons, we typically read together, walking through poems and stories while working on critical reading and reflection. I regularly work with nonnative speakers of English on literary analysis and gaining new vocabulary through reading literature as well as on all types of writing.

My teaching approach focuses on close reading, discussion, and Socratic questions -- asking open questions to prompt your thinking.

Classes usually consist of reading and discussion of short stories or poems, focusing on each students' needs and goals, whether vocabulary, literary analysis, or thoughtful discussion. I can also give writing prompts -- whether anaytical or creative -- between lessons, and I give feedback in writing and at the start of the following lesson.

Also, please note that I mainly work with adults, university students, and some high school students depending on the student's goals. I don't specialize in working with children or middle school students. I recommend a tutor who specializes in literature and teaching methods for younger age groups to best meet your needs!
