Hello, My name is Madeleine, and I am a native English speaker! I am from Minnesota in the United States, and I have a neutral American accent.

Do you want to understand more about American culture? Do you need to reinforce your fluency and learn more idioms and phrases? Look no further! I specialize in conversational English for all ages. I've been doing conversational lessons for years, and I thoroughly enjoy helping students become comfortable, fluent, and confident in their English speaking skills.

I love painting, cooking, spending time with my friends, and going to the beach! I am very familiar with moving countries and learning another language; I'm currently working on Arabic and Greek, and I spent about 9 years living in Scotland, and then Cyprus! I know how much work goes into language learning, and I deeply empathize with the joy and struggles of living in a brand new place with a different language. I will never judge you for making mistakes during lessons - but I will help you fix them :)

Previously, I tutored asylum seekers in English, as well as other topics. I have also tutored children in art, physical education, and reading and writing.

I aim to make my lessons as enjoyable as possible. I am happy to adjust lessons to meet the needs of my students at all times, and I use a variety of resources and lesson plans. I have everything from fun games (especially for children) to complex discussion questions (for those looking to develop their deep thinking in English). I try to keep my talking time to a minimum, which leaves more time for you to speak and practice!

Tutoring combines three of my many passions: communication, teaching and getting to know people.

I'm easygoing and love to have fun, but I also work hard to meet deadlines and goals. I'm good at assessing people's needs and determining what kinds of activities and/or topics would be most beneficial for each individual. I'm naturally very encouraging to the people around me, but I will still challenge my students to get outside their comfort zones.
