Hi, my name is Sam, and I would like to help you learn the most efficiently way possible at your own pace. My interests are in music, art, travel and nature. I find that these are things that tend to revolve around my experiences with other people. If it has to do with the human experience and expression, I am most likely interested in it.
I have been living in Istanbul for a year now. Aside from that, I have traveled to a total of 5 different countries and am planning a larger trip through South East Asia.
My professional music career has not been consistent, but I have played in Jewish, American and Turkish wedding bands, Jam bands, Jazz combos and solo as a street musician.
If you ask nicely I might show you the art I have been making and show you how I went about making it.
The problem with learning is if you learn the wrong way then you have to spend time breaking old habits while relearning the proper way. My experience in music and English education has given me the tools and methods to learn in a way that will help you achieve your goals the right way the first time.
"Shadowing", breaking down words for pronunciation, understanding the ins and outs of grammar and how to use it in a real context. These are things that we will do together and that will help you speak English like a native.
I have also had experience learning Hebrew as a second language. Those sessions have changed my outlook on what is important to learn and how to go about designing an open and fun classroom.

Although conversational English is most important to get by in an English speaking world and get to know others at work, knowing how to use the formal side of English could be crucial for your job. I have specific experience teaching business professionals in Turkey how to express themselves and assess situations in the business room using a formal style of English, utilizing idioms common to the American work place.
IELTS
Several of my students have had IELTS test study courses with me and I am proud to say they have all received passing scores. Students on their first try received a 6.5 overall total while others with a 6.5 previous overall total were able to raise it to 7.5 and 8.0.
English for work

This is a situation-specific English lesson. Here we will talk specifically about flying, booking hotels, ordering food, using taxis, etc. so that you can feel more comfortable as you travel through an English speaking country.
