Hi My name is Susan and I am originally from the UK. I've spent the last 35 years living and working in Southeast Asia and have taught and trained a variety of people from corporations to government servants to health workers to military institutions. I have also taught graduates and postgraduates in communication and language, including English for Academic Purposes. Another side of my profession is teacher training in ELT and pedagogy. I love to help teachers realise real learning in the classroom.

I have a love of reading and favourite topics include history, art, science and philosophy. I am also a positive psychologist and coach, aiming to increase well-being in others' lives. I like to edit and proofread. I have a creative writing group which currently meets online.

Having spent my childhood outside the UK, I have been a traveller all my life and so the current restrictions have been tough. I love Southeast Asian culture and food. Currently I am spending a couple of the years in the UK and am enjoying the seasons. My Asian connections are still strong and I aim to return to Asia in 2023 when I hope travelling will be easier.

I started off with a TEFL certificate and left for Southeast Asia. After travelling for a year, I came to stay in Singapore and was given a great job in RELC, where I quickly became a teacher trainer for TESOL. I love teacher training! I self-taught myself in related subjects such as educational psychology and linguistics. In the 1990s, I became more involved in corporate training and offered training in a wide number of areas including presentation skills, business writing and interpersonal skills. I am an accredited Myers-Briggs facilitator, trained in Firo-B and Nonviolent communication. Always with an interest in studies, I decided to take on the masters in positive psychology but due to covid-19 measures, the dissertation portion is not complete.

With this wide background, I like to offer learners from ages 18 and above a rich educational environment that is personal, challenging and yet fun! I am flexible and spontaneous and will adjust any motivation you need to keep studying to suit your personality.
