Hello, my name is Simon and I am a Dutch-British tutor living in Rome, Italy.

I like to blend active and passive learning. Often, students feel that Latin is all about studying large tables of complicated grammar and vocab. However, I think it's just as important to get students to engage with the language a bit by modifying or even creating their own phrases, sentences etc. If you can write it, you can read it too - and in the end the whole point of learning Latin is to able to read ancient authors.

I started learning Latin at the age of 10 and am currently an undergraduate at La Sapienza University of Rome's Classics Degree. I have 2 years of prior experience tutoring Latin, mostly to high school students. We usually tackle either specific issues the student is facing, or try to introduce new subjects gradually through exercises and a bit of theory.

If you book a trial lesson with me, we can discuss what exactly you would like to do in greater detail. It is also good to have an idea of your experience with Latin, and if you're in school or university, any assignments or textbooks you've done/made. Like this we can get off to a good start, without starting out too easy or getting ahead of ourselves.
