Hi, my name is Paul and I am from Washington, DC. I am very passionate about foreign languages and linguistics.

I have a 300-hour Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Additionally, I have a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Arizona State University where I graduated Summa Cum Laude and I am currently pursuing my PhD in Spanish with a focus on Hispanic Linguistics at Temple University.

Beyond my education, I have experience teaching as well.

This past year I lived abroad in Elche, Spain where I was teaching English as a language assistant in a secondary school during the 2022-2023 school year. I taught general English to students ranging in age from 12 to 18 during the day. Additionally, I taught technical English classes in the fields of medicine, cosmetology, and hospitality to adults during evening classes.

When I am not studying or teaching, I enjoy reading books, writing, practicing yoga, going for hikes, and occasionally playing some video games.

I enjoyed the experience of teaching English as a language assistant abroad in Spain, so I decided to obtain a certificate to be able to teach English as foreign language. I have a 300-hour Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). I completed a 180-hour course on the principles of TEFL and two 60-hour courses on teaching Business English and teaching One-to-One/Online. In additon to the diploma, I also have two 30-hour certifications in teaching advanced grammar in English and teaching in online settings.

I believe that English lessons must be adapted to the learner. So, my teaching methodology will be based on the needs of the student and how they prefer to learn. This means that we can focus on what you feel you need to improve on the most and maximize your lessons to achieve that goal.

I offer structured lessons that can follow a curriculum in order to teach you the grammar and vocabulary and then put it to use which suits beginner to intermediate learners quite well. For those who are intermediate to advanced, I offer more conversation based lessons where we will discuss an article, video, or podcast that uses authentic English in order to build your fluency and accuracy in the language. Finally, I offer classes in Business English where we will focus on building functional skills based on your needs and use of English in your professional work environment.
