About the tutor

Hello, my name is Diana. I was born and raised in a small German town in North Rhine-Westphalia in the Lower Rhine region (Niederrhein) very close to the Netherlands.

My interests include reading, language acquisition, art, forest hikes and running.

After passing the Cambridge English Exam with a C2 level in 2017,

I interned at a German and English language school in Pamplona, Spain where I created the lesson material for the students preparing to take the C1 Cambridge Advanced English and C2 Cambridge English Proficiency Exams.

Apart from that, I helped learners from around the world with their German studies in a more casual fashion online since I was 18.

The teaching method I'll employ will greatly depend on your specific goals, but overall I prefer an immersion based method where you spend time outside of the lessons consuming interesting and meaningful content which we will then discuss during our lessons.

Conversational German
Since I grew up in Germany I've had innumerable conversations in German over the course of my life ranging from casual, formal to professional social situations. We could cover everything you might encounter in a conversation in your day-to-day life.
I've helped German learners with improving their German conversation through language exchange since 2017.
General German
As a native German speaker and language enthusiast, I have great command of general German.
Through reading extensively for the past 10 years I refined my vocabulary and use of the language to suit various occasions in spoken as well as written form.
Business German
I have a two year educational background in English-German business correspondence. This includes:

I have my own course books with specimen letters, examples, commercial phrases that I could use for our lessons. Please be aware that the books are targeted towards native German speakers learning to engage in English business correspondence, but it's a valuable resource for German business correspondence nonetheless since all the English phrases are accompanied by the German translation.
German Literature
Through being educated in the German education system and being an avid reader in my free time as well, I am familiar with many works of classical German literature and German translations of Russian, Japanese, English and American literature. Next to classical literature I also enjoy contemporary novels and have read books of various genres including history, philosophy, Sci-Fi, fantasy, magical realism and more.
