My name is Giles, I am British and live in West Wales. I've taught English for nearly twenty years, generally with mature and professional learners. I enjoy most and am best at helping people who want to steer their English use toward a more natural native style. I have a particular interest in improving students' ability and confidence in public speaking and giving presentations.

Away from work, I enjoy traditional crafts, working with metals and wood, and 18th Century history. My family have a farm and we raise cattle and sheep.

I qualified to teach in 2005 and have done so on a part time basis since then. I am qualified as a Barrister in the Anglo-Welsh Jurisdiction, and have a first degree in science. This background allows me to confidently help students up to and including professionals in almost any field of work.

All of my teaching has been with adults and my usual work is with people who are professionals of at least intermediate ability on a one-to-one basis. My teaching style is relaxed but persistent in identifying areas for improvement and then resolving them, usually several at a time.

My aim is to get a student to a level at which he / she will confidently and competently speak and interact with an audience of native English speaking peers.

During a first lesson I will quickly identify areas of your English usage that need improving. I will explain what they are, prioritise them for you, demonstrate how to correct them and then help you to do so.
