Hi, I'm Michel, a 52-year old Dutch primary teacher, born and raised in The Netherlands. At the moment I'm living in Cambodia where I'm taking a deep dive into Khmer culture and the local language.

My teaching career started in 1997 and WOW, what a ride that was! In the years that followed I worked as a primary teacher, Dutch language teacher, teacher trainer, counsellor, English teacher and head of school.

In 2006, after 10 years teaching primary students in The Netherlands, I decided to have a look around in the rest of the world. I found a job as an teacher trainer in The Republic of Maldiives. An amazing experience in a beautiful country. I had two great years and decided tot extend my stay in The Maldives. I started my own language centre in one of the islands and worked there for 5 more years.

After teaching English for five years, I needed a new challenge. In a periode of four years I worked as a teacher/principal in two Dutch language schools: one in Peru and one in Bangladesh and I went back to The Netherlands twice to teach in a regular Dutch primaire school.

The process of transfering knowledge from one person to the other has always been my passion. But it's not my only passion. I love travelling and explore cultures that are very different from the one I grew up in.

I graduated as a primary teacher in 1997. My teaching career started at a small school in Amsterdam North. It was the beginning of a period of 10 years in which I not only grew as a teacher, but also as a person.

I worked with great passion and enthusiasm at different types of schools. Students, parents and collegues will describe me as a kind, but strict, no-noncence teacher. I love a good joke and I love to talk small talk, but work doesn't finish itself, right?!

Dutch is not an easy language to learn. It's improtant that your tutor has the necessary knowledge and experience to figure out what the best learning path for your individual needs is.

People learn different and for different purpuoses.

People who have to take the Dutch citizen exam, gain more from a different learning path than people who want to learn Dutch for business or study. Together we determine not only what the best learning path is, but also at what pace you want to learn. .
