Hello everyone, I'm Xiaodan and I go by Dan, a Chinese teacher from Guangdong, China, as well as a language learner and enthusiast, and I'm glad to meet you here. I am a native speaker of Mandarin and Cantonese. And I majored in English in college. So, if you're interested in Mandarin or Cantonese, I hope I can help. In this adventure of learning Chinese, I wish to be not only your tutor but also your friend, as we explore this difficult but fascinating language together.

I like to make friends from different cultural backgrounds, and in doing so, I see the diversity of cultures and the importance of language. Language is a reflection of culture, and learning a language is actually learning culture, so embracing culture is the key to language learning. This means we need to find the commonalities and differences between our native language and the foreign language. The commonalities here are not mysterious things, they can be a similar pronunciation, structure, or similar culture, habits, and so on, and the differences are the same. I think foreign language learning is actually a process of collision and integration between the mother tongue and foreign language. This process is interesting enough on its own, but there will undoubtedly be many difficult moments, which are the two sides of the same coin.

If you're interested in learning Chinese but don't know how to get started, I'm more than happy to work with you to find what works best for you from scratch. Of course, if you've been learning for a while, you're more than welcome to share with me your learning experience and any confusion you've encountered thus far, and we can work together to find a solution.

We can use the textbook for systematic learning, or we can do thematic scene learning and conversation practice according to your interests and needs. Everyone is unique, there is no one-size-fits-all learning process, only adaptability, and matching.

In the process of learning, I am also very honored to be able to share some of my personal insights about Chinese culture with you, so that we can discuss, exchange, and share our perspectives and learn from each other.

I enjoy music, movies, and traveling. We can adapt songs to memorize vocabulary, mimic movie scenarios to practice conversation and share each other's trip experiences to broaden our understanding. I believe that interest can unlock people's potential and make learning twice as effective.

Finally, I'd like to share with you a popular Chinese proverb: Every beginning is difficult. What I'm trying to say is that no one is born with, even the most gifted people start from scratch, step by step, so please be patient and confident in yourself. As a language learner, I deeply realize that this is a journey that takes time and process, but also a journey that is both painful and enjoyable.
